Painless Laser Dentistry

At KARMM Dental, we are trained in using a laser for a variety of procedures. The benefits of using a laser over a drill or scalpel include lessened discomfort, lessened anxiety, minimal bleeding, and a quick recovery. Gum disease, also called the “silent” disease, is a leading cause of tooth loss in America. Dental professionals call this disease silent, because the symptoms often go unnoticed until the disease becomes very serious. The health of your gums has a significant impact on your whole body; including your heart and joints.

There are four stages of gum disease: gingivitis, slight periodontal disease, moderate periodontal disease, and advanced periodontal disease. Gingivitis is the only stage where the disease is reversible. If patients keep a regular dental exam and cleaning appointment schedule, gum disease is usually caught in this early stage. Gum disease is more likely to progress to the irreversible stages if patients do not attend regular appointments.

In any stage, a laser dentist can provide state-of-the-art, conservative, and effective treatments. Lasers are a gentle and conservative option. In routine dental cleanings, often the laser can replace the need to scrape the tooth with metal instruments. A focus beam of light emitted by the laser helps sanitize the gums. The laser painlessly eliminates the bacteria and helps reduce the risk of gum disease. We also offer laser cold sore treatment. Cold sores symptoms include pain, itching, and tingling around the sore. They can begin to heal on their own within a week. Ointments or pills can help get rid of the sore 1-2 days sooner. However, our laser treatment can be much more effective.

If we can treat the sore as soon as you start having the symptoms, our painless laser treatment can dramatically lessen the painful symptoms and recovery time. The relief can be immediate, and the laser stops the progression of the lesion. The laser actually destroys the virus, and after treatment, sores in the same area will be less intense and frequent. Best of all, the treatment just takes a few minutes and does not require any shots.
